Dickinson County Endowment Fund Board announces grant recipients The Dickinson County Endowment Fund Board has recently announced the grand award recipients for the year 2007.
Monies will be awarded to the following:
Camp Foster/YMCA - $4,000 for inservice programs to for area schools;
Voluntary Action Center - $3,825 for volunteerism web site;
H-LP School Wellness - $3,174 for Security system-community fitness center;
Lakes Community Land Trust - $3,000 for East Milford redevelopment;
YMCA - $2,900 for Head Start;
DCEF - $2,725 for operating web site/promoting;
CHAPCO - $2,500 for Time Out Nursery;
CAASA - $2,500 for child service facility;
Terril Fire Dept. - $2,000 for quick response truck;
Kinship - $2,000 for at risk youth;
Okoboji Middle School - $2,000 for 40 MP3 players-AR program;
Milford Fire & Rescue - $2,000 for Wildland firefighter gear;
Hopen Haven - $2,000 for group respite to families w/disabilities;
Terril Public Library - $2,000 for building renovations;
SL Fire Department - $2,000 for grain bin rescue;
Upper Des Moines - $2,000 for Early Childhood Development Needs;
Discovery House - $2,000 for Discovery House maintenance and repairs;
ISU Ext/Ricochet - $1,700 Ricochet Leadership Prog. County wide;
SL & Okoboji Timber Bay - $1,500 for Rec/Transport at Risk Youth;
Triad S.A.L.T - $1,050 for Sheriff’s Tri Patrol ATV-helmets & Tires;
AP Fire - $1,000 for Lakes Ice/Snow Air Boat;
Joyful Journeys - $1,000 for Community Child Development;
Shepherd’s Fold - $1,000 for Sex Abstinence Ed. Program;
Lakes Art Center - $1,000 for Jazz Band workshop/performances;
Priority #1 Dick. Co. - $1,000 for Lakes Area Student Council Retreat;
ArtsLIVE - $1,000 for Festival ‘08- Co. Wide grades 4-11;
Okoboji HS Art Dept. - $650 for Art Ed Materials;
Terril Kiwanis - $500 for public service event sign;
Conservation Foundation of Dickinson County - $500 for Dickinson County Nature Center Butterfly House;
and Lakes Community Theatre - $500 for Gospel Family Musical - Feb ‘08.

Awards were granted on the bases of need and benefit to our community, breadth of impact, matching funds, along with long term effect and sustainability. Thirty of the 37 organizations requesting monies were awarded, totaling $55,024.00.

Requests for funds totaled $168,342.00. With the total coast involved with the projected proposed projects totaling $1,44,096.00 for our community of Dickinson County. Application forms for 2008 funding grants will be available on our web site at www.dcefund.org beginning spring of 2008.
